Caring Beyond Boundaries: healthcare arrives by boat in Bakana

The Free Medical Outreach began on the water. Our team journeyed by boat across the creeks to Bakana Community, Rivers State, Nigeria, then on to Boma Mingi Suku, Will-Braide Central, where the outreach took place. The community turned out in strength, and we met them with free medical consultations, vital-sign checks, laboratory testing, TB screening, medication dispensing, health education, and full eye care — eye examinations, prescribed eye drops and eyeglasses. Beyond the medicine there were smiles, gratitude and testimonies: an elderly woman seeing clearly through new lenses, a father learning his blood pressure for the first time, mothers who no longer had to travel hours for a diagnosis. Distance should never decide who gets to be well. From the first boat ride to the final moments of the day, it was care, connection, teamwork and service — health brought to every home.
